Do You Know Which Country has Vikram Samvat as its Official Calendar?

Hello Guys! Happy Diwali to all of you!!

Do you know in which country Vikram Samvat is an official calendar?

Vikram Samvat or Bikram Samvat is a Hindu calender, it is based on lunar events. The Vikram Samvat (VS) and the Gregorian calender both have same number of months. But, there are two differences between the two!

The first is, according to VS, all months have 30 days according to lunar movements, divided in two phases, Shuklapaksh or Sud and Krishnapaksh or Vad. In first part, the moon is inclining to become full moon and in the second part, the moon is declining to dark moon or no moon.

The second difference is the day according to VS may be of 19 to 26 hours. A day is called Tithi. Tithis begin at varying times of day.

Yesterday, this question was asked in KBC and you may know the answer if you watched the show. If you missed the show then don't worry, here's the answer:

The Vikram Samvat Calendar is the official calender of Nepal.

The Rana rulers of Nepal made Bikram Samvat the official Hindu calendar in 1901 CE, which started as Sambat 1958. In Nepal, the new year begins with the first day of the month of Baishakh, which usually falls within the months of April–May in the Gregorian calendar. The first day of the new year is passionately celebrated in a historical carnival that takes place every year in Bhaktapur, called Bisket Jatra. As before, from 2007 AD, Nepal Sambat is recognized as the national calender.
